London Occult Shops

Classic examples of the traditional Occult Shop are here exemplified by two famous London shops. Atlantis was originally founded around the turn of the century and this video shows the original and well known portrait of Golden Dawn founder Macgregor Mathers hanging in the background.

Treadwell’s may be newer than Atlantis but it nonetheless has become an important crossroads for the occult world.

US tarot author Rachel Pollack recently gave a presentation at the first Tarosophy Workshop in the UK. She was joined by Marcus Katz, Kim Huggens & Keren Happuch at the event organized by the Tarot Professionals.

Rare Books at the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetic

Amsterdam gives us many opportunities for enrichment, but the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica is a esoteric treasure house! The founder, Joost R. Ritman, has opened his priceless collection to the public to enlarge education in western esotericism. No doubt many students at the University of Amsterdam have benefited from its close proximity, especially those enrolled at the History of Hermetic Philosophy department, chaired by Wouter Hanegraaff. A trip there in 2008 yeilded valuable research in alchemical emblemata.
